Natty Boa Episode I
|
 |
| |
I think class of '87 actually lobbied for Natty Boa as its first choice. For us, it was good, as it was the only symbol that brought unity to a class that consisted of the last of the TC Boys, one of the first generations of skate-punks to graduate, and my creatively destructive and often drunken friends.
Our class ended up choosing the the Moose - a fast food mascot that has been lost to the memories of every American except GMHS class of '87. I guess the statement of our times - our zeitgeist, if you will - that we wanted to remember while browsing the yearbook was that our town had a Hardee's.

Natti Boa
|
 |
| |
I saw a guy with a Natti Boa jacket in an Irish Bar here in San Diego. I had to stop him and talk to him. He was recently stationed at Pax River.
It reminded me that a certain English teacher whose son was into Satanism, banned us from using "Bill the Cat" as our class mascot..a movement obviously being led by the Otters. It gives me much pleasure to see Bill the Cat back in the Sunday comics again.
The alternate class mascot - Nattie Boa. Representing every teenagers favorite drink of choice: National Bohemian Beer. Brewed on the Chesapeake!
Thanks English teacher with satan son! You banned Bill the cat but endorsed teen drinking.

GMHS's Principal
|
 |
| |
Anyone else think that the Principal walked around with sex on her mind...
All the time?
I remember the brief fallout over the poems that LG and I wrote in one of the publications magazines.
According to the Prinicpal, they were two highly erotic, sexually charged poems that were to be removed immediately from the magazine.
I guess I'm a simpleton, I thought LG wrote about margarine! And I about fishing.
I think someone needed a man!

Grease and Arsenic & Old Lace
|
 |
| |
Mark, I apologize for your mooning duet being cut from the production. If it helps, I played that role in community theatre in Alabama. Let me tell you, that songs kills with an audience in their 70's.
LG may remember more, but I don't recall too many controversial moments with the plays we did, except for the final night of Arsenic & Old Lace. LG convinced me to use the actual line - "I'm a bastard!" - instead of the substitute line that Ms. Wiz gave me.
I think the audience appreciated, even if the Administration didn't.

DATA?
|
 |
| |
Ahhhh- if you were not a freshman... I am so amazed to walk into Best Buy and see Data's name. And to think I knew him way back when he was just an extra on the MASH set.
Who will you name when you get your first oscar.
Seriously, Congrats to you. I even bought the DVD (for $9.99... cheap bastards)! Plan on watching it this weekend.
St. Mary's County actually has a Best Buy now! No more driving to Waldorf.
